A couple weeks ago I was sitting in the front row and far left. During the worship music, I noticed one of our young people very much "engaged" with the music. O.K. -- they were dancing. But at that particular moment, it not only brought a smile to my face, it brought a smile to my soul. Anything and anyone around her did not matter. She had happy feet. She was singing and dancing to God. This observation is coming from a guy who is a bit of a stoic swede. If I jingle the keys in my pocket to a song, I'm really into it!
I was reminded of a movie a saw a couple years ago called King David, starring Richard Gere. There was a scene in which King David dances when the ark of the covenant returns to Jerusalem. Unfortunately, it was kind of painful to watch. I don't know if Gere can't dance or if he just can't dance biblicaly (if there is such a term). But in my eyes, it was a long scene. Ugh.
Later that week, as I was reading thru Matthew, I came across verses you're familiar with. You can find them in 19:14-15.
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.
So, here's the question: Is your soul smiling?

My soul starts smiling when I hear my children sing praise songs or hymns they have learned at church, VBS, Sunday School, or on KTIS. It is my prayer that they realize Who they are singing to!
