The Power of the Cross: Convergence.

About a year ago, I shared at a congregational meeting, some comments I heard from Rev. Samuel Rodriguez.  After Rev. Rodriguez made these comments about having a "cross-centered worldview," the interviewer said; "That was good stuff folks.  You should hit the rewind button."  And so I am.  Here, once again, are Rev. Rodriguez's comments about how we should have a cross-centered worldview.  I feel like they are quite appropriate for a body of believers that call themselves "CrossPoint".

The cross is vertical and horizontal.
The vertical direction represents God's Kingdom, His glory,  His presence.
The horizontal direction represents community relationships, culture and society.

Vertical is redemption.
Horizontal is relationships.

Vertical is the covenant.
Horizontal is our community.

Vertical is Billy Graham.
Horizontal is Martin Luther King.

Vertical is righteousness.
Horizontal is justice.

Vertical is the New Jerusalem.
Horizontal is Hennepin County.

The cross is BOTH / AND.
It is not either / or.

The strongest part of the cross is the point of convergence.  That is where we need to minister out of -- the strength of the cross!  It is where righteousness meets justice.  It is where John 3:16 meets Matthew 25:45.
