Challenged by an atheiest

The other day I was in the waiting room of an attorney.  I was flipping thru the pages of a book and came upon a list of tombstone headings.  One said: "Here lies an atheist.  All dressed up and no where to go."  At first I smiled and chuckled to myself.  Then, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said; "That really isn't very funny.  That person is experiencing a Christ-less eternity.

In this video, listen to Penn Jillette, a well known atheist/magician, recount his experience with a man who gave him a Bible after one of his shows.  It's convicting.  Penn didn't become a Christian, but is words are challenging to any of us who are.

A week or so ago, Steve Jobs died.  The things he did, created and made affected much of mankind.  But, by all indications, he is experiencing a Christ-less eternity.  On the other hand, I received an email from Jill Mcfarling about a week ago.  She told how a friend of hers recently received Christ.  This person had moved away, but Jill (and others) continued to stay in contact with this person, gently, lovingly and carefully pointing them to the Savior.

The attitude of the person who came up to Penn Jillette after his show is similar.

After listening to this, Colossians 4:5-6 comes to mind.  How do we communicate the Gospel Message?

Saw this a while back but it is worth reviewing... it appears that a simple act of kindness and genuine sincerity does really change peoples opinions... thanks for bring it back to my memory and hopefully my practice to get the rubber to meet the road...

This makes me ask again, who is on my contact list? Who in my workplace, family, neighborhood, or circle of connections, am I praying for? Praying that God would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel and that God would give me, AND I would be respond to specific opportunities to talk about spiritual things. Those people are all around me. Do I really care enough? Am I convinced I have something of value to share with them?

Thanks for posting.
